Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan proses berpikir yang masuk akal dan reflektif, yang diarahkan pada penentuan sikap atau tindakan berdasarkan pertimbangan yang logis. Kemampuan ini dapat dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran yang melibatkan pengalaman nyata dan kontekstual. Salah satu pembelajaran yang dapat memfasilitasi pengembangan berpikir kritis adalah penerapan model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan Place-Based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan PlaceBased learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di sekolah menengah atas negeri yang berlokasi di Jakarta Timur, Indonesia, dengan subjek penelitian 60 siswa kelas X E-3 dan X E-6. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen Nonequivalent control group design. Data dikumpulkan melalui instrumen tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan lembar keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Instrumen tes yang digunakan 15 butir soal yang telah tervalidasi dan dipilih dari 28 soal valid dengan reliabilitas sangat tinggi. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Hasil analisis data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji ANCOVA. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan penerapan model pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hasil temuan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan Place-based learning berpengaruh pada kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dan dapat menjadi alternatif dalam pembelajaran biologi, khususnya pada materi perubahan lingkungan. ************************************************************ Critical thinking is a rational and reflective thought process aimed at determining attitudes or actions based on logical reasoning. This skill can be developed through learning that involves real-world and contextual experiences. One approach that can facilitate the development of critical thinking is the application of the Discovery Learning model with a Place-Based Learning approach. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing Discovery Learning with a Place-Based Learning approach on students’ critical thinking skills. The study was conducted at a public high school located in East Jakarta, Indonesia, with 60 students from classes X E-3 and X E-6 as research subjects. This study employed a quasiexperimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. Data were collected through a critical thinking skills test instrument and a learning implementation sheet. The test instrument consisted of 15 validated items selected from 28 valid items, with a reliability classified as very high. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling. The results of data analysis showed a normal and homogeneous distribution. Hypothesis testing was conducted using an ANCOVA test. This indicates that there is a significant effect of the learning model’s implementation on students’ critical thinking skills. The findings of this study confirm that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model with a Placebased learning approach influences students’ critical thinking skills and can serve as an alternative in biology education, particularly regarding environmental change topics
