Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pendekatan metakognitif terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu (quasi-experiment) dengan posttest-only control group design. Populasi terjangkau pada penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 180 Jakarta tahun ajaran 2025/2026, dengan sampel yang diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling pada kelas yang memenuhi uji prasyarat dan menghasilkan kelas VIII-E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-B sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan penalaran matematis yang terdiri dari empat soal esai pada materi persamaan garis lurus yang telah teruji valid dan reliabel. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi (\alpha)\ =\ 0,05 menunjukkan nilai t_{hitung}\ lebih besar daripada t_{tabel} yaitu \bigmt_{hitung}=2,083\ >\ t_{0,05;60}=1,671\ sehingga H_0 ditolak. Penolakan H_0 menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan metakognitif memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Selain itu, hasil uji Cohen's d menunjukkan nilai ukuran pengaruh sebesar 0,532 dengan persentase pengaruh sebesar 69%, yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan metakognitif memberikan pengaruh dengan kategori sedang terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of applying a metacognitive approach on students’ mathematical reasoning skills. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a posttest-only control group design. The study population consisted of all eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 180 Jakarta for the 2025/2026 academic year, with the sample selected using cluster random sampling from classes that met the prerequisite tests, resulting in class VIII-E as the experimental class and class VIII-B as the control class. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical reasoning ability test comprising four essay questions on linear equations, which had been proven to be valid and reliable. The results of the hypothesis test using the t-test at a significance level (\alpha)\ =\ 0.05 show that t_{test}=2.083\ >\ t_{0,05;60}=1.671; therefore, H₀ is rejected. The rejection of H₀ indicates that the mean mathematical reasoning ability of students in the experimental class is higher than that of the control class. This suggests that the metacognitive approach has an effect on students’ mathematical reasoning ability. In addition, the results of the Cohen’s d test show an effect size of 0.532 with a percentage effect of 69%, which falls into the moderate category. This indicates that the metacognitive approach has a moderate effect on students’ mathematical reasoning ability.
