Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh authentic self-expression di media sosial terhadap kecemasan sosial pada Generasi Z di Jabodetabek. Media sosial menjadi ruang bagi individu untuk mengekspresikan diri dan membangun identitas sosial, namun juga dapat meningkatkan paparan terhadap evaluasi sosial yang berpotensi memunculkan kecemasan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 151 individu Generasi Z berusia 18–29 tahun yang berdomisili di Jabodetabek dan aktif menggunakan media sosial. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Authentic and Inauthentic Expression Scale (AIES) dan Social Anxiety Scale for Social Media Users (SAS-SMU). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa authentic self-expression berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap kecemasan sosial pada Generasi Z di Jabodetabek. Authentic self-expression memberikan kontribusi sebesar 2,9% terhadap kecemasan sosial. Kesimpulannya, semakin tinggi authentic self-expression individu di media sosial, maka semakin rendah tingkat kecemasan sosial yang dimiliki. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of authentic self-expression on social anxiety among Generation Z in Jabodetabek. Social media has become a space for individuals to express themselves and construct social identities, but it may also increase exposure to social evaluation, which can contribute to the emergence of social anxiety. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The participants consisted of 151 Generation Z individuals aged 18–29 years who lived in Jabodetabek and actively used social media. The instruments used in this study were the Authentic and Inauthentic Expression Scale (AIES) and the Social Anxiety Scale for Social Media Users (SAS-SMU). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that authentic self-expression had a negative and significant effect on social anxiety among Generation Z in Jabodetabek. Authentic self-expression contributed 2.9% to the variance in social anxiety. In conclusion, the higher the level of authentic self-expression individuals demonstrate on social media, the lower their level of social anxiety.
