Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk istilah bidang teknologi, proses penyerapan istilah bahasa Inggris ke dalam bahasa Indonesia, dan perubahan makna istilah bidang teknologi pada artikel Kompas.com rubrik Edukasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data penelitian berupa 106 istilah bidang teknologi yang diperoleh dari 56 artikel Kompas.com rubrik Edukasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik simak dan catat, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan metode agih dan padan translasional dengan mengacu pada teori penyerapan Haugen dan teori perubahan makna Ullmann. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa istilah bidang teknologi terdiri atas 92 bentuk kata dan 14 bentuk gabungan kata. Berdasarkan proses penyerapannya, ditemukan 31 istilah yang diserap melalui adopsi, 46 istilah melalui adaptasi, dan 29 istilah melalui penerjemahan. Berdasarkan perubahan makna, sebanyak 104 istilah tidak mengalami perubahan makna, sedangkan 2 istilah mengalami perubahan makna yang terdiri atas 1 istilah mengalami perluasan makna dan 1 istilah mengalami penyempitan makna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyerapan istilah bidang teknologi pada artikel Kompas.com rubrik Edukasi cenderung mempertahankan makna istilah bahasa sumber dengan penyesuaian bentuk sesuai kaidah bahasa Indonesia. ***** This study aims to describe the forms of technology-related terms, the process of incorporating English terms into Indonesian, and changes in the meanings of technology-related terms in articles from the Education section of Kompas.com. The study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. The research data consisted of 106 technology-related terms obtained from 56 articles in the “Education” section of Kompas.com. Data collection was conducted using the observation and note-taking technique, while data analysis employed the distributional and translational equivalence method, drawing on Haugen’s theory of adoption and Ullmann’s theory of meaning change. The results showed that the technology-related terms comprised 92 single-word terms and 14 compound terms. Based on the process of adoption, 31 terms were adopted through direct borrowing, 46 through adaptation, and 29 through translation. In terms of semantic change, 104 terms retained their original meanings, while 2 terms underwent semantic change—1 of which experienced semantic expansion and 1 experienced semantic narrowing. The research results show that the adoption of technology terms in articles from the “Education” section of Kompas.com tends to preserve the meaning of the source language terms while adjusting their forms to conform to Indonesian language rules.
