Abstract

Di tengah ketidakpastian dunia kerja dan terbatasnya lapangan kerja formal, kewirausahaan menjadi alternatif karier yang penting bagi Generasi Z. Penelitian kuantitatif asosiatif ini bertujuan menguji pengaruh General Risk Propensity terhadap Entrepreneurial Intention pada 203 Generasi Z usia 20–29 tahun di Jabodetabek yang dipilih melalui convenience sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan General Risk Propensity Scale (GRiPS) yang dikembangkan oleh Zhang, Highhouse, dan Nye (2019), serta dimensi Entrepreneurial Intention dari Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) karya Liñán dan Chen (2009). Hasil uji regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa General Risk Propensity berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Entrepreneurial Intention (β = 0,491; t = 7,983; p < 0,001), dengan kontribusi sebesar 24,1%. Analisis tambahan menemukan bahwa individu dengan pengalaman menjalankan usaha dan memiliki ayah seorang wirausahawan cenderung memiliki niat berwirausaha yang lebih tinggi. Dampak dari temuan ini menegaskan bahwa keberanian mengambil risiko adalah kunci dalam memilih karier kewirausahaan, sehingga institusi pendidikan perlu memfasilitasi program praktik usaha langsung untuk membangun kesiapan mental Generasi Z dalam menghadapi dunia kerja. ***** Amidst job market uncertainty and limited formal employment opportunities, entrepreneurship has become a crucial career alternative for Generation Z. This associative quantitative study aims to examine the effect of General Risk Propensity on Entrepreneurial Intention among 203 Generation Z individuals aged 20–29 years in the Jabodetabek area, selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the General Risk Propensity Scale (GRiPS) developed by Zhang, Highhouse, and Nye (2019), and the Entrepreneurial Intention dimension of the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) by Liñán and Chen (2009). The simple linear regression analysis showed that General Risk Propensity has a positive and significant effect on Entrepreneurial Intention (β = 0.491; t = 7.983; p < 0.001), with a predictive contribution of 24.1%. Additional analysis revealed that individuals with prior business experience and those whose fathers are entrepreneurs tend to exhibit higher entrepreneurial intention. The impact of these findings emphasizes that the willingness to take risks is key in choosing an entrepreneurial career; therefore, educational institutions need to facilitate direct business practice programs to build the mental readiness of Generation Z in navigating the professional world.
