Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya berbagai respons pemerintah terhadap gelombang demonstrasi Agustus 2025. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dimensi teks, praktik wacana, dan sosiokultural wacana kritis Norman Fairclough pada pernyataan Presiden Prabowo Subianto dalam menyikapi demonstrasi Agustus 2025. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi. Data penelitian berupa transkrip pernyataan Presiden Prabowo Subianto dalam menyikapi demonstrasi Agustus 2025 yang disampaikan pada 31 Agustus 2025. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis wacana kritis Norman Fairclough. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada dimensi teks, Presiden Prabowo Subianto merepresentasikan demonstrasi sebagai hak konstitusional masyarakat sepanjang dilakukan secara damai dan sesuai hukum, sementara tindakan yang dikategorikan sebagai “anarkis”, “makar”, dan “terorisme” diposisikan sebagai ancaman terhadap stabilitas nasional. Relasi yang dibangun menempatkan pemerintah sebagai pihak yang memiliki otoritas dalam menentukan batas antara demonstrasi yang sah dan tindakan yang melanggar hukum, sedangkan identitas penutur dikonstruksikan sebagai pemimpin yang bertanggung jawab menjaga keamanan, ketertiban, dan persatuan nasional. Pada dimensi praktik wacana, pernyataan diproduksi melalui konferensi pers dan didistribusikan melalui media massa dan media digital, serta memunculkan beragam respons publik sesuai latar belakang dan posisi ideologis masing-masing. Pada dimensi praktik sosiokultural, wacana dipengaruhi oleh konteks situasional berupa gelombang demonstrasi Agustus 2025, konteks institusional yang melibatkan dukungan lembaga negara dan partai politik, serta konteks sosial yang berkaitan dengan dinamika demokrasi, ketidakpuasan masyarakat terhadap kebijakan pemerintah, dan upaya mempertahankan stabilitas nasional. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa dalam pernyataan presiden tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat komunikasi politik, tetapi juga sebagai instrumen untuk membangun legitimasi pemerintah, mengonstruksi relasi kekuasaan, dan membentuk persepsi publik terhadap demonstrasi. **** This study is motivated by the government's responses to the wave of demonstrations in August 2025. The study aims to examine the textual, discourse practice, and sociocultural dimensions of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis in President Prabowo Subianto's statements regarding the August 2025 demonstrations. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected using documentation techniques. The research data consisted of the transcript of President Prabowo Subianto's statement addressing the August 2025 demonstrations, delivered on August 31, 2025. The data were analyzed using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis framework. The findings indicate that, at the textual dimension, President Prabowo Subianto represents demonstrations as a constitutional right of citizens, provided that they are conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law, while actions categorized as "anarchism," "treason," and "terrorism" are positioned as threats to national stability. The discourse constructs the government as the authority responsible for determining the boundary between legitimate demonstrations and unlawful actions, while the speaker’s identity is portrayed as that of a leader responsible for maintaining security, public order, and national unity. In the discourse practice dimension, the statement was produced through a press conference and disseminated via mass media and digital media, generating diverse public responses shaped by different social backgrounds and ideological positions. In the sociocultural practice dimension, the discourse is influenced by the situational context of the August 2025 demonstrations, the institutional context involving the support of state institutions and political parties, and the broader social context related to democratic dynamics, public dissatisfaction with government policies, and efforts to maintain national stability. The findings demonstrate that the language used in the president's statement functions not only as a means of political communication but also as an instrument for constructing governmental legitimacy, establishing power relations, and shaping public perceptions of the demonstrations.
