Abstract

Kesepian merupakan kondisi yang memiliki keterkaitan dengan kualitas hubungan sosial individu, termasuk bagaimana individu mempersepsikan ketersediaan dukungan dari lingkungan sosialnya. Generasi Z menjadi kelompok yang relevan untuk dikaji karena tumbuh dalam konteks sosial yang mengalami berbagai perubahan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi dukungan sosial terhadap kesepian pada Generasi Z. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain cross-sectional digunakan sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 468 individu yang tercatat sebagai Generasi Z, atau yang lahir pada rentang tahun 1997 hingga 2012. Data diperoleh melalui teknik non-probability sampling dengan metode convenience sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data adalah De Jong-Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS) versi 6-item dan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) versi 12 item. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode regresi logistik untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi dukungan sosial terhadap probabilitas kesepian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi dukungan sosial berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap probabilitas kesepian pada Generasi Z (B = -0,107; p < 0,001; Exp(B) = 0,898). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan persepsi dukungan sosial memiliki keterkaitan dengan penurunan probabilitas individu mengalami kesepian. Analisa tambahan yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa tidak ditemukan hubungan yang signifikan pada karakteristik demografis dengan kesepian, meskipun terdapat variasi proporsi setiap karakteristik demografis. Dengan demikian, persepsi dukungan sosial menjadi salah satu faktor yang berperan dalam menjelaskan probabilitas terjadinya kesepian pada Generasi Z. Generation Z is a relevant group to be examined as they have grown within a social context characterized by various changes. This study was conducted to examine the effect of perceived social support on the probability of loneliness among Generation Z. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed in accordance with the research objectives. The participants consisted of 458 individuals identified as Generation Z, or those born between 1997 and 2012. Data were collected using a non-probability sampling technique with a convenience sampling method. The instruments used for data collection were the 6-item De Jong-Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS) and the 12-item Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Data were analyzed using logistic regression to examine the effect of perceived social support on the probability of loneliness. The result showed that perceived social support had a negative and significant effect on the probability of loneliness among Generation Z (B = -0,107; p < 0,001; Exp(B) = 0,898). These result indicated that increased perceived social support is associated with a lower likelihood of the probability of experiencing loneliness. Additional analyses showed that no significant association was found between demographic characteristics and loneliness, despite variations in the proportions of each demographic characteristics were observed. Therefore, perceived social support serves as on of the factors contributing to the understanding of loneliness experiences among Generation Z.
