Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan STEM berbantuan e-modul terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan posttest-only control group design. Populasi terjangkau penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 99 Jakarta tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling pada kelas yang memenuhi uji prasyarat dan menghasilkan kelas VIII-E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-H sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis yang terdiri dari empat soal esai pada materi statistika yang telah teruji valid dan reliabel. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan nilai t hitung = 2,939 dan t tabel = 1,667 sehingga t hitung > t tabel dan tolak H0. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan STEM berbantuan e-modul memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Pernyataan tersebut didukung dengan hasil nilai rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Selain itu, diperoleh nilai besar pengaruh pada uji Cohen's d sebesar 0,692 dengan persentase pengaruh 76% yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan STEM berbantuan e-modul memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa, meskipun implementasinya menghadapi kendala terutama dalam keterbatasan waktu dan partisipasi siswa yang belum optimal. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of applying a STEM approach assisted by e-modules on students’ mathematical critical thinking skills. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a posttest-only control group design. The study population consisted of all eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 99 Jakarta for the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample selected using cluster random sampling from classes that met the prerequisite tests, resulting in class VIII-E as the experimental class and class VIII-H as the control class. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical critical thinking ability test comprising four essay questions on statistic, which had been validated for validity and reliability. The results of the hypothesis testing using a t-test showed a calculated t test = 2,939 and t table = 1,667 leading to t test > t table and the rejection of H0. These results indicate that the STEM approach assisted by e-modules has an effect. This result is further supported by the average mathematical critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the control class. Additionally, a large effect size was obtained in the Cohen’s d test, with a value of 0.692 and an effect percentage of 76%, which falls into the high category. These results indicate that the STEM approach assisted by e-modules has a positive effect on students’ mathematical critical thinking ability, although its implementation faced constraints particularly rearding time limitation and suboptimal student participation.
