Abstract

***** This study analyzes factors affecting profitability in renewable energy companies, focusing on Debt to Equity Ratio, Current Ratio, and Firm Size, with Company Growth as a control variable. Using secondary data from company official websites and the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the study covers 10 companies from 2020 to 2024, totaling 190 observations. Panel data regression is applied to examine the partial effects of independent variables on Return on Equity. The results show that Debt to Equity Ratio has a significant negative effect on Return on Equity in line with Trade-off and Pecking Order Theory, while Current Ratio and Firm Size are not significant on Return on Equity. These findings indicate that liquidity and company size do not always directly determine profitability in the renewable energy sector. The study emphasizes the importance of contextualizing classical financial theories according to specific industry characteristics and internal and external factors affecting financial performance. Therefore, the results provide empirical insights for companies, investors, and government in designing financial strategies to sustainably enhance corporate performance.
