Abstract

Maka, dapat dikatakan bahwa adanya peningkatan pada salah satu variabel (sensation seeking atau risky cybersecurity behaviors) memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan peningkatan pada variabel lainya.***** Cyber attacks such as malware and phishing are increasingly diverse in their methods, used specifically to steal data from internet users. In the digital era, with growing internet usage and increasing demand for online services, there is a greater need to understand factors contributing to risky cybersecurity behaviors. Identifying these factors is crucial because understanding human elements that influence risk-taking behaviours can help develop more effective interventions beyond just technical cybersecurity training and or technical interventions. This study specifically aims to empirically examine the relationship between two variables: sensation seeking (a personality trait associated with taking risks) and risky cybersecurity behaviors among emerging adults who lives in urban areas particularly in Jabodetabek regions. A quantitative approach was used for this study. This study analyzed data from 201 emerging adult internet users through validated research instruments, such as the Brief Sensation Seeking Scale - Indonesia (BSSS-I) and an adapted version of the Risky Cybersecurity Behaviours Scale (RScB). This paper’s findings indicate a clear positive relationship between these two variables. The correlation coefficient was 0.293, suggesting a significant connection. This concludes that increases in one variable (sensation seeking or risky cybersecurity behaviors) are correlated with increases in the other.
