Abstract

Pendidikan abad ke-21 menuntut pengembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis murid, namun kemampuan tersebut masih tergolong rendah dalam pembelajaran biologi, khususnya pada materi sistem imun yang bersifat kompleks dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS) pada materi sistem imun terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis murid. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Non-equivalent Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 60 yang diperoleh secara simple random sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji Independent Samples t-Test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,018 (<0,05), sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model Problem Based Learning dengan pendekatan Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS) pada materi sistem imun berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis murid. Penerapan model PBL dengan pendekatan SETS membantu murid mengembangkan kemampuan menganalisis permasalahan, menghubungkan konsep dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, serta menyusun solusi secara logis berdasarkan bukti ilmiah. ***** Twenty-first-century education demands the development of students’ critical thinking skills. However, these skills remain relatively underdeveloped in biology education, particularly in learning the complex and contextual topic of the immune system. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach on students' critical thinking skills in learning the immune system. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Non-equivalent Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 60 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test, which yielded a p-value of 0.018 (<0.05), leading to the rejection of H₀ and the acceptance of H₁. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the SETS approach has a significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills in learning the immune system. Furthermore, the implementation of the PBL model with the SETS approach helps students develop the ability to analyze problems, relate scientific concepts to real-life situations, and formulate logical solutions based on scientific evidence.
