Abstract
Globalisasi platform siaran film telah mengubah terjemahan audiovisual menjadi sarana penting bagi komunikasi antarbudaya, sehingga terjemahan takarir semakin berpengaruh dalam membentuk pemahaman penonton terhadap budaya dan sistem politik asing. Penelitian ini mengkaji terjemahan wacana kekuasaan dan politik feodalisme dalam takarir resmi Bahasa Indonesia pada episode 1 serial House of the Dragon, berjudul The Heirs of the Dragon (2022). Secara khusus, penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana narasi politik feodalisme diceritakan kembali, strategi penerjemahan apa yang digunakan, serta bagaimana pilihan-pilihan terjemahan tersebut mencerminkan orientasi ideologis terhadap representasi budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan kerangka analisis terintegrasi yang terdiri dari teori naratif Baker (2006), strategi penerjemahan Gottlieb (1992), serta paradigma domestikasi dan foreignisasi Venuti (1995). Data penelitian terdiri dari 129 pasang teks terjemahan yang berisi wacana politik feodalisme, termasuk perdebatan suksesi, wacana hukum dan kelembagaan, perintah kerajaan, gelar, bentuk sapaan, serta musyawarah dewan. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa apropriasi selektif merupakan bentuk dominan dari penceritaan ulang naratif, yang mencakup 55% dari data, yang menunjukkan bahwa pembuat takarir terutama memodifikasi wacana politik melalui penghilangan atau penekanan selektif, bukan melalui restrukturisasi naratif yang ekstensif. Mengenai strategi penerjemahan, strategi transfer adalah yang paling sering digunakan (55%), diikuti oleh parafrase, kondensasi, imitasi, dan ekspansi, yang menunjukkan kecenderungan kuat untuk mempertahankan isi semantik dialog sumber sembari mengakomodasi kendala teknis pembuatan takarir. Terakhir, dari perspektif ideologis, teks terjemahan dalam bahasa Indonesia sebagian besar menunjukkan orientasi domestikasi (92,2%), yaitu menyesuaikan ungkapan-ungkapan tersebut ke dalam bentuk yang lebih alami dan mudah dipahami oleh penonton Indonesia. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan subtitle berfungsi sebagai transfer linguistik dan proses mediasi budaya, di mana konstruksi naratif, strategi penerjemahan, dan posisi ideologis saling berinteraksi secara bersamaan. Penerapan terpadu kerangka kerja Baker, Gottlieb, dan Venuti memberikan pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai bagaimana wacana politik abad pertengahan direpresentasikan lintas bahasa dan budaya. **** The globalization of streaming platforms has transformed audiovisual translation into an important medium for intercultural communication, making subtitle translation increasingly influential in shaping the audience's understanding of foreign cultures and political systems. This study investigates the translation of feudal power and political discourse in the official Bahasa Indonesia subtitles of House of the Dragon episode 1, The Heirs of the Dragon (2022). Specifically, the research examines how feudal political narratives are re-narrated, what subtitling strategies are employed, and how these translation choices reflect the ideological orientations toward cultural representation. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using an integrated analytical framework consisting of Baker's (2006) narrative theory, Gottlieb's (1992) subtitling strategies, and Venuti's (1995) domestication and foreignization paradigm. The data consists of 129 subtitle pairs containing utterances of feudal political discourse, including succession debates, legal and institutional discourse, royal commands, titles, forms of address, and council deliberations. The findings reveal that selective appropriation is the dominant form of narrative re-narration, accounting for 55% of the data, indicating that the subtitler primarily modifies political discourse through selective omission or accentuation rather than extensive narrative restructuring. Regarding the subtitling strategies,, transfer is the most frequently used strategy (55%), followed by paraphrase, condensation, imitation, and expansion, suggesting a strong tendency to preserve the semantic content of the source dialogue while accommodating the constraints of subtitling. Lastly, for the ideological perspective, the Bahasa Indonesia subtitles predominantly demonstrate a domestication orientation (92.2%), adapting the expressions into forms that are more natural and accessible for Indonesian audiences. Overall, the study demonstrates that subtitling functions as a linguistic transfer and a process of cultural mediation in which narrative construction, subtitling constraints, and ideological positioning interact simultaneously. The integrated application of Baker's, Gottlieb's, and Venuti's frameworks provides a comprehensive understanding of how feudal political discourse is represented across language and cultures.
