Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-compassion dengan citra tubuh pada siswa di SMK Negeri Jakarta Timur. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X dan XI yang berjumlah 429 siswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling insidental. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan teknik korelasional. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner Self-Compassion Scale dari Neff (2003) dan Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire dari Thomas F Cash (2000) dan telah diadaptasi oleh Swami (2019) menjadi 34 item. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik Product Moment Correlation. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai Sig. = 0.000 yang berarti nilai probabilitas lebih kecil dari nilai signifikansi α = 0.05, dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hasil analisis dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara self-compassion dengan citra tubuh pada siswa di SMK Negeri Jakarta Timur (r = 0.222; p < 0.05) dengan tingkat kekuatan hubungan yang rendah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara self-compassion dan citra tubuh, semakin tinggi self-compassion, maka semakin positif citra tubuh siswa. Namun, kekuatan hubungan keduanya berada pada kategori rendah, yang menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara kedua variabel tidak tergolong kuat. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan pemahaman mengenai citra tubuh pada remaja juga perlu mempertimbangkan karakteristik perkembangan remaja dan lingkungan sosial. ***** This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and body image in students at State Vocational High Schools in East Jakarta. The sample in this study was 429 students in grades X and XI. Sampling used an incidental sampling technique. The method employed is quantitative with a correlational technique. Data collection was carried out using the Self-Compassion Scale questionnaire from Neff (2003) and the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire from Thomas F Cash (2000), and has been adapted by Swami (2019) into 34 items. Data Analyzed using the Product-Moment Correlation technique. The results of the analysis show a Sig. value = 0.000, which means the probability value is smaller than the significance value α = 0.05, thus it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The results of the analysis can be interpreted as indicating that there is a positive relationship between self-compassion and body image in students at State Vocational High Schools in East Jakarta (r = 0.222; p <0.05), with a low level of relationship strength. This indicates a positive relationship between self-compassion and body image, the higher the self-compassion, the more positive the student's body image. However, the strength of this relationship falls into the low category, suggesting that the connection between the two variables is not robust. These findings imply that understanding body image formation in adolescents must also account for developmental characteristics and the social environment.
