Abstract
***** This study was motivated by the limited number of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) devices available for the Programmable Logic Controller Practice Course in the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The study aimed to produce a design, construct the product, and determine the functional performance of a PLC Trainer Kit through independent testing. Research and Development with the ADDIE model was employed. Although the complete model consists of five stages, the work was limited to Analysis, Design, and Development. The Analysis stage covered laboratory observation, interviews, literature review, and needs identification. The Design stage covered the frame, panel layout, wiring, and input-output functions. The Development stage covered the construction of a Siemens S7-1200 CPU 1214C-based PLC Trainer Kit and independent black-box testing. Six panels were tested: Digital Input-Output, Various Input, Various Output, Garage Door, Car Park, and Traffic Light. Each panel was evaluated through eight job-sheet-based scenarios, resulting in 48 test scenarios. The results showed that all inputs, control processes, indicators, actuators, timing functions, interlocks, and operating sequences produced outputs that matched their specifications. All 48 scenarios passed, corresponding to a 100% pass rate. Therefore, the PLC Trainer Kit was successfully constructed and performed according to the practical testing requirements. These findings are limited to product functionality and do not include expert validation, user trials, or measurement of learning effectiveness.
