Abstract
***** This study aims to empirically examine the effect of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Disclosure and Profitability on firm value in the coal mining sub-sector in Indonesia, with firm size as a moderating variable and firm age as a control variable. Firm value in this study is proxied using Market Value Added (MVA). Through a quantitative approach, this study utilizes secondary data sourced from the companies' annual reports and sustainability reports during the 2020-2024 observation period. Employing a purposive sampling method, a total of 20 companies were selected, yielding 92 observations in the form of unbalanced panel data. Hypothesis testing was conducted using panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that profitability has a positive and significant effect on firm value, thereby supporting Signaling Theory, which suggests that high profitability serves as a positive signal to investors and enhances firm value. Conversely, the Environmental, Social, and Governance disclosure variables do not have a significant effect on firm value. Furthermore, the interaction test results demonstrate that firm size is unable to moderate the effect of both ESG disclosure and profitability on firm value.
