Abstract

PROSPEK PENGEMBANGAN POTENSI SPORT ECO-TOURISM DI KAWASAN GEOPRAK CILETUH PALABUHANRATU Hikmat Kodrat 9904923023 ABSTRAK Pengembangan sport eco-tourism merupakan pendekatan strategis dalam pariwisata berkelanjutan yang mengintegrasikan aktivitas olahraga berbasis alam, konservasi lingkungan, serta pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal. Geopark Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu sebagai UNESCO Global Geopark memiliki keunggulan komparatif berupa keragaman geologi (geodiversity), keanekaragaman hayati (biodiversity), dan keragaman budaya (cultural diversity) yang potensial dikembangkan sebagai destinasi sport eco-tourism. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis prospek pengembangan potensi sport eco-tourism serta dampaknya terhadap aspek ekonomi, sosial budaya, dan lingkungan di kawasan Geopark Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus peneliti ingin menggali informasi apa yang akhirnya bisa dipelajari atau ditarik dari sebuah kasus, baik kasus tunggal maupun jamak untuk memahami dinamika pengembangan pariwisata dari perspektif masyarakat lokal dan pemangku kepentingan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam dengan masyarakat lokal, pengelola geopark, wisatawan, dan pemangku kepentingan terkait, serta studi dokumentasi kebijakan dan pengelolaan kawasan. Validasi data dilakukan melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Geopark Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu memiliki prospek yang kuat dalam pengembangan sport eco-tourism berbasis alam, seperti hiking, surfing, trail running, panjat tebing, dan aktivitas geowisata olahraga lainnya. Pengembangan tersebut berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat, penciptaan lapangan kerja, dan tumbuhnya usaha pariwisata berbasis komunitas. Dari aspek sosial budaya, sport eco-tourism berkontribusi pada pelestarian budaya lokal dan penguatan identitas masyarakat, meskipun berpotensi menimbulkan komodifikasi budaya apabila tidak dikelola secara partisipatif. Dari aspek lingkungan, penerapan prinsip eco-tourism meningkatkan kesadaran konservasi, namun masih memerlukan penguatan tata kelola dan pengawasan untuk mencegah degradasi lingkungan. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan sport eco-tourism yang berbasis partisipasi komunitas, tata kelola berkelanjutan, dan perlindungan kawasan geopark. Kata kunci: Ekowisata olahraga; Pariwisata berkelanjutan; Geopark Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu; Pariwisata berbasis komunitas; Konservasi lingkungan PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF SPORT ECO-TOURISM IN THE CILETUH GEOPARK AREA OF PALABUHANRATU Hikmat Kodrat 9904923023 ABSTRACT The development of sport ecotourism is a strategic approach to sustainable tourism that integrates nature-based sports activities, environmental conservation, and local community empowerment. The Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark, has comparative advantages in the form of geological diversity (geodiversity), biodiversity, and cultural diversity, which have the potential to be developed as a sport ecotourism destination. This study aims to analyze the prospects for developing sport ecotourism and its impacts on the economic, socio cultural, and environmental aspects of the Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu Geopark area. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the researcher sought to explore what information could ultimately be learned or drawn from a case, both single and multiple, to understand the dynamics of tourism development from the perspective of local communities and stakeholders. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with local communities, geopark managers, tourists, and relevant stakeholders, and documentation studies of area policies and management. Data validation was carried out through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis was conducted thematically. The research results indicate that the Ciletuh–Palabuhanratu Geopark has strong prospects for developing nature-based eco-sports tourism, such as hiking, surfing, trail running, rock climbing, and other geotourism activities. This development has a positive impact on increasing community income, creating jobs, and growing community-based tourism businesses. From a socio-cultural perspective, eco-sports tourism contributes to the preservation of local culture and the strengthening of community identity, although it has the potential to lead to cultural commodification if not managed participatively. From an environmental perspective, the application of eco-tourism principles increases conservation awareness, but still requires strengthened governance and oversight to prevent environmental degradation. This research emphasizes the importance of developing eco-sports tourism based on community participation, sustainable governance, and protection of the geopark area.
