Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data empiris tentang ada tidaknya hubungan yang positif antara tingkat pendidikan formal orang tua dengan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Kawula Indonesia selama 3 bulan mulai dari bulan Maret – Mei 2010. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Ex Post facto. Populasi target adalah seluruh siswa SMK Kawula Indonesia yang berjumlah 335 siswa. Sedangkan populasi terjangkau adalah siswa kelas X yang berjumlah 75 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampel random sampling sehingga diperoleh sampel sebanyak 62 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara tingkat pendidikan formal orang tua (X) dengan hasil belajar (Y). Data mengenai tingkat pendidikan formal orang tua diambil dari formulir biodata pendaftaran siswa baru yang kemudian dibagi menjadi tiga kategori yaitu dasar, menengah, dan tinggi. Sedangkan data mengenai hasil belajar siswa diambil dari nilai ulangan harian sebanyak 4 kompetensi dasar yang juga dibagi menjadi tiga kategori yaitu rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Uji persyaratan analisis data dibagi menjadi dua uji yaitu uji hipotesis dan uji keeratan atau uji determinasi. Uji hipotesis menggunakan rumus transformasi gamma (γ), hasil perhitungan nilai (γ) sebesar 0,6 kemudian dimasukka kedalam rumus statistik uji Z sehingga diperoleh nilai Z hitung (Zo) sebesar 2,6. dengan taraf signifikan 5% dan nilai Z tabel (Zt) sebesar 1,645 sehingga Zhitung (2,6) > Ztabel (1,645). Hasil penelitian tersebut menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara konsep diri dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa. Dengan uji koefisien determinasi atau penentu diperoleh hasil 36 % variabel hasil belajar siswa (Y) ditentukan oleh tingkat pendidikan formal orang tua (X). ***** This study aims to obtain empirical data about whether there is a positive relationship between parents' level of formal education with student learning outcomes. This research was conducted in vocational subjects Indonesia for three months starting from March to May 2010. This study uses a quantitative approach to the Ex Post facto method. Target population is all student SMK Kawula Indonesia numbering 335 students. While the population is affordable tenth grade students numbering 75 students. The sampling technique using random sampling so that samples obtained 62 samples of students. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between formal education level of parents (X) with student learning (Y). Date on formal education level of parents was taken from the biodata form of new student enrollment then divided into three categories: elementary, middle, and high. While data regarding student learning outcomes taken from the daily repetition of four basic competencies are also divided into three categories: low, medium, and high. Test requirements for data analysis is divided into two test test test hypotheses and closeness or determination test. Hypothesis test using the formula of transformation of gamma (γ), the calculation of the value (γ) equal to 0.6 and then dimasukka into the formula so that the test statistics Z. Z value obtained from calculation (Zo) of 2,6. with significance level 5% and the value of Z tables (Zt) of 1.645, so Zhitung (2.6)> Ztabel (1.645). The results concluded that there is a positive relationship between self concept and student achievement motivation. With a coefficient of determination or decision test result 36% variable student learning (Y) is determined by the level of formal education parents (X).
