Abstract

***** The study is aimed at obtaining valid and factual information and knowledge about correlation between net sales with liquidity on mainstream and chemical industries listed in Indonesia stock exchange. The study takes place at Center for Stock Exchange Reference (PRPM) at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Kavling 52-53, Jakarta Selatan 12910. The study employs survey method with correlational approach and ex-post facto data. Independent variable in the study is net sales and liquidity as its dependent variable. Population is all mainstream and chemical industries listed at Indonesia Stock Exchange from which sample is derived as of 40 companies. sampling purposive is chosen to select the sample. Data for sales and liquidity are acquired through their financial statements, i.e., balance and income statement per December 31, 2005 and December 31, 2006. Regression and correlation tests are used to analyze the data. According to statistical computation the study reveals the regression Ŷ = 1,06 + 0,01X. Result of normality test of error estemimation Y on X shows that the data are normally distributed with Lo = 0,0654 and Lt = 0,1401 which further means that Lo < Lt (Ho is accepted). Moreover, based on result of hypothesis test it’s known that value fo Fo (b/a) is of 11,49 and 4,10 for Ft which means that Fo (b/a) > Ft (11,49 > 4,10) and, therefore, Ho is rejected. Conclusion from the statistical computation is that the regression model of Ŷ = 1,06 + 0,01X is significant. Fo (TC) (1,43) < Ft (2,23) means that Ho is accepted and the model is linier. From result of correlation coefficient computation which users Pearson’s product moment rxy = 0,53 with significance level α as of 0,05 for sample of 40 companies it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between X and Y Variables. T-test shows that th and tt of the study are of 4,54 and 1,7 and due to th > tt then Ho is rejected and correlation between X and Y is meaningful. Finally, based on calculation the study results in determination coefficient as of 28,09% which means that liquidity is affected significantly by net sales. Liquidity is affected by net sales as of 28,09% and the remaining 71,91% is influenced by other factors.
