Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca bahasa Arab dalam aspek kognitif melalui metode reciprocal di program beasiswa MHI STAI Al-hidayah Bogor. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas model Chost, yang diawali dengan mengungkapkan sebuah masalah penelitian, hipotesis tindakan, kemudian hipotesis tersebut diuji melalui empat tahapan, (a) Plan (perencanaan), (b) Act (pelaksanaan), (c) Observer (pengamatan), (d) Reflect (refleksi). Ada empat langkah dalam metode reciprocal ini; 1) Predicting yaitu memprediksi apa yang terjadi dalam sebuah teks dengan penggabungan wawasan mahasiswa sesuai dengan tema yang sedang dibacanya, 2) Clarifying membahas beberapa kosa kata atau kalimat yang belum dipahami, 3) Questioning, kegiatan mahasiswa untuk membuat beberapa soal dari materi teks yang telah mereka baca, 4) Summarizing, kegiatan meringkas kembali dengan bahasa mereka sendiri, mesintesis dan mengevaluasi sebuah teks. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, kuisioner, catatan lapangan dan tes. Untuk mengetahui tingkat reliabilitas tes, maka dilakukan uji reliabilitas dengan menggunakan rumus Kuder Richardson (KR-20). Setelah dilakukan uji validasi dan uji reliabilitas, dinyatakan bahwa instrumen tes sangat reliabel dan valid. Data kualitatif divalidasikan melalui tringulasi data yang mencakup empat cara yaitu; kredibilitas, transferabilitas, dependibilitas, dan konfirmabilitas. Hasilnya, keterampilan membaca mahasiswa dalam aspek kognitif mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Nilai rata-rata pada pra siklus adalah 55,27 kemudian pada siklus pertama skor keterampilan membaca rata-rata naik menjadi 86,02. Nilai rata-rata meningkat kembali pada siklus kedua, yaitu 91,16. Ini membuktikan bahwa metode yang tepat dalam pembelajaran membaca dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan keterampilan membaca, salah satunya adalah kemampuan kognitif. Meskipun metode reciprocal sudah dianggap sebagai metode pembelajaran yang lama, akan tetapi di pondok pesantren MHI metode ini adalah metode pembelajaran baru, sehingga dapat menginspirasi metode pengajaran bahasa di sekolah tradisional lainnya. ******************************* The purpose of this study is to improve reading skills in thecognitive aspects of Arabic.However, the method used is still traditional, learning is only focused on the teacher's direction. Even though in this age of technological progress teaching in all fields of education must refer to student activities. In this study, researchers conducted classroom action research to apply the reciprocal method in reading learning. There are four steps in this reciprocal method, including: 1) Predicting is predicting what happens in a text by combining student insights according to the theme being read, 2) Clarifying discussing some vocabulary or sentences that have not been understood, 3) Questioning, student activities to make some questions from text material that has been they read, 4) Summarizing, summarizing activities in their own language, synthesizing and evaluating a text.The process of collecting data were observations, questionnairs, field notes and tests. To determine the level of reliability of the test, the reliability test was performed using the Kuder Richardson formula (KR-20). After the validation and reliability tests were carried out, it was stated that the test instruments were very reliable and valid. Qualitative data is validated through data triangulation which includes four ways namely; credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability.As a result, students' reading skills in cognitive aspects experienced a significant increase. The average value in the pre cycle is 55.27 then in the first cycle the average reading skill score rises to 86.02. The average value increases again in the second cycle, which is 91.16. This proves that the right method in learning to read can help students improve reading skills, one of which is cognitive ability. Although the reciprocal method has been considered an old learning method, in the MHI Islamic boarding school this method is a new learning method, so it can inspire language teaching methods in other traditional schools.
