Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi proses kognitif yang dialami sejumlah penulis ahli di Indonesia dalam menulis artikel internasional bereputasi tinggi. Dengan pendekatan grounded theory, penelitian ini melakukan pengodean terbuka (open coding), pengodean poros (axial coding), pengodean selektif (selective coding), dan perumusan teori (generating theory) dari data-data yang dikumpulkan dari hasil wawancara mendalam dan analisis dokumen artikel para informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aktifitas tinjauan pustaka atau “search before research” menjadi hulu dari keseluruhan proses kognitif dalam menulis artikel akademik. Kecermatan dalam proses tinjauan pustaka akan memunculkan state of the art dan rumpang penelitian yang kemudian memiliki unsur kebaruan tinggi sehingga aktifitas membaca-meneliti-menulis terintegrasi dalam satu-kesatuan proses kognitif yang berkelindan. Publikasi sebagai hilir dari aktifitas tinjauan pustaka atau akhir dari proses kognitif menulis akademik menjadi medium bagi penulis ilmiah agar taat azas pada ketentuan focus dan scope jurnal yang dituju. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa topic-search-research-writing-publication atau model kognitif menulis akademik adalah rangkaian proses kognitif sekaligus bahan baku dalam penyusunan teori dan model kognitif dalam menulis akademik. Kata kunci: proses kognitif; rekonstruksi; tulisan akademik; jurnal internasional bereputasi. This research aims to reconstruct the cognitive processes experienced by a number of expert writers in Indonesia in writing high-reputable international articles. With the grounded theory approach, it performs open coding, axial coding, selective coding, and generating theory from data gathered of the in-depth interviews and document analysis of the informants’ articles. It reveals that the activity of literature review or "search before research" is an upstream of the whole cognitive process in composing academic articles. Accuracy in the process of review of the library will bring up the state of the art and research gap that then has the element of high novelty so that the reading-researching-writing activities are integrated into one-unity of flashed cognitive process. Publication as a downstream of the literature review activity or the end of the cognitive process of academic writing becomes a medium for scientific writers to be obedient to the provisions of the focus and scope of the intended journal. This research concluded that “search-topic-research-writing-publication” or the “cognitive model of academic writing” is a series of cognitive processes as well as raw materials in the formulation of theories and cognitive models in academic writing.
