Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek melalui penugasan jurnal harian pada siswa kelas V SD. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Mekarsari 09 Kabupaten Bekasi yang berjumlah 31 siswa. Peneltian ini menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Adapun langkah-langkah penelitiannya meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini berupa tes, observasi dan dokumentasi. Keterampilan menulis cerita pendek kelas V belum maksimal dan masih di bawah KKM. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh data pada siklus I presentase siswa yang mendapat nilai keterampilan menulis cerita pendek 70 sebesar 61.3%. Kemudian terjadi peningkatan, pada siklus II presentase siswa yang mendapat nilai keterampilan menulis cerita pendek 70 adalah sebesar 87.1%. Data tersebut menunjukan bahwa target penelitian atau kriteria keberhasilan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek siswa yaitu sebesar 80% telah tercapai. Adapun hasil pemantau tindakan dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan penugasan jurnal harian pada siklus I mencapai 83.3% (aktivitas siswa). Pada siklus II terjadi peningkatan yakni mencapai 100% (aktivitas siswa). Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa target pemantau tindakan yaitu sebesar 90% sudah tercapai. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan penugasan jurnal harian sebagai metode pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek pada siswa kelas V SDN Mekarsari 09, Kabupaten Bekasi. This research aims to improve short story writing skills through the daily use in fifth grade students of elementary school. The subjects of this research are the third grade students of Mekarsari 09 Elementary School Bekasi Regency that has 31 students. This research was conducted using the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model. The procedure is a cycle that includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. In this research the ways of data collection are test, observation, and documentation. Short story writing skills in fifth grade are not maximal and below standard of minimum completeness. Based on the results of the research in the first cycle the percentage of students that scored 70 in short story writing skills was 61.3%. Then there was an increase in second cycle. The percentage of students that scored 70 in short story writing was 87,1%. The data show’s that research targets on the success criteria in short story writing skills of the students which has reached to 80%. The result of monitoring actions in learning by using diary writing assignment in the first cycle was 83.3% (student activity). An increased in the second cycle by reaching 100% (student activity). The data shows that the target of the action monitoring which was 90% had been reached. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of diary writing assignment as a method of learning can improve short story writing skills in the fifth grade students of Mekarsari 09 Elementary School, Bekasi Regency.
