Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan yakni pemahaman yang mendalam tentang mekanisme penggunaan bahasa propaganda dalam iklan baliho kampanye politik. Sumber data meliputi 8 baliho dari 4 partai Nasionalis dalam pemilihan umum 2019 yaitu PDI-P, Golkar, NasDem, dan Hanura. Sementara, data penelitian terdiri dari teks visual dan teks tulis yang terdapat pada baliho. Berdasarkan pemecahan masalah yang ada, penulis menggunakan teori Semiotika Sosial: Multimodal Kress dan Van Leeuwen (2006) yang meliputi tiga metafungsi yakni; Metafungsi Representasional, Metafungsi Interpersonal, dan Metafungsi Komposisional. Teori Semiotika Sosial termasuk dalam teori multimodal dan dikembangkan dari teori Fungsional Sistemik Linguistik dari Halliday (2004, 2014) dalam fungsinya untuk mengidentifikasikan slogan, kalimat yang mengandung unsur propaganda, serta representasi gabungan keseluruhan unsur baik itu teks visual dan teks tulis dalam Baliho. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik interpretatif guna menganalisis teks tulis dan teks visual dalam baliho. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yakni objek partisipan dari 8 baliho mengandung makna propaganda dengan tujuan menarik minat dan perhatian khalayak. Berdasarkan 3 metafungsi multimodal (representasional, interpersonal, komposisional) mekanisme bahasa propaganda bergerak melalui; logo, slogan, figur tokoh pendukung, warna latar, serta warna pakaian kandidat. Kata Kunci: Bahasa Propaganda, Baliho, Partai Politik Nasionalis, dan Semiotika sosial: Multimodal. ************** This research aims to analyze the understanding of the contrivance of using propaganda language in political campaign billboards advertisements. The sources of data consist of 8 billboards from 4 Nationalist parties in the 2019 general election, such as PDI-P, Golkar, NasDem, and Hanura. Simultaneously, the data consists of visual and written text which contained on billboards. Based on the phenomena of the research, the author uses the theory of Social Semiotics: Multimodal Kress and Van Leeuwen (2006) which includes three metafunctions that are; Representational Metafunctions, Interpersonal Metafunctions, and Compositional Metafunctions. Social Semiotic Theory is included in multimodal theory and has been developed from Systemic Linguistic Functional theory from Halliday (2004, 2014) to identify slogans, sentences that accommodate elements of propaganda, as well as a combined representation of all elements, both visual text and written text in billboards. This study uses a qualitative approach with an interpretive type to consider both written and visual text on billboards. The conclusion of this research is both of 8 billboards participant and object contains the meaning of propaganda to attract the attention of the audience, based on three metafunctions (representational, interpersonal, and compositional) it shows that the mechanism of language on the billboard which involved propaganda moves through logos, slogans, photo techniques, color composition, image arrangement, figure supporters, background color, and color of the candidate's clothes.
