Abstract

ABSTRACT Amelia Idha Reshinta, 2021. The Cognitive Level of Instructional Questions in Grade X English Student’s Book Entitled “Pathway to English”. A Skripsi. Jakarta: English Language Education Study Programe, Faculty Languages and Arts, Universities Negeri Jakarta, Januari 2021. This study aims to evaluate the cognitive levels of instructional questions in the textbook "Pathway to English" Grade X with regards to Bloom Revised Taxonomy on essay questions in reading exercises in the Pathway to English textbook used for the 10th grade of senior high school students. The author uses the content analysis method because the writer identifies the specific characters of the material in the textbook. This study uses qualitative data because the data is in the form of words. The object of this study was the reading essay exercise in the Pathway to English textbook for the 10th grade of senior high school students. Data was collected through several instruments, namely data sheet and Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy Table. The results showed that the higher order thinking skills in the Pathway to English textbook obtained 13 out of 74 questions on reading essay practice questions (17,56%) while the lower order thinking skills obtained 61 of 74 reading essay question questions (82,44%). The results of the distribution of higher order thinking skills are: Analyzing skills get the highest distribution, 12 of 74 essay question in reading practice (16,21%), evaluating skills do not get a higher order thinking skill distribution (0%), and creating skills get 1 out of 74 essay question questions in reading practice (1,35%). It can be concluded that the distribution of lower order of thinking skills in more dominant than higher order thinking skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat kognitif dari pertanyaan pembelajaran dalam buku teks "Pathway to English" Kelas X yang berkenaan dengan Taksonomi Revisi Bloom pada pertanyaan esai dalam latihan membaca di buku teks Pathway to English yang digunakan untuk siswa kelas X SMA. Penulis menggunakan metode analisis isi karena penulis mengidentifikasi karakter spesifik dari materi dalam buku teks. Penelitian ini menggunakan data kualitatif karena datanya berupa kata-kata. Objek penelitian ini adalah latihan membaca esai pada buku teks Pathway to English untuk siswa kelas X SMA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui beberapa instrumen yaitu lembar data dan table revisi bloom taksonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada buku teks Pathway to English memperoleh 13 dari 74 soal pada soal latihan membaca karangan (17,56%) sedangkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat rendah memperoleh 61 dari 74 soal membaca karangan (82,44%). Hasil sebaran keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi adalah: Keterampilan menganalisis mendapat sebaran tertinggi, 12 dari 74 soal uraian dalam praktik membaca (16,21%), keterampilan mengevaluasi tidak mendapat sebaran keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (0%), dan Keterampilan menciptakan mendapatkan 1 dari 74 soal uraian dalam latihan membaca (1,35%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa distribusi keterampilan berpikir tingkat rendah lebih dominan daripada keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi.
