Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of teaching style on learning outcomes of tennis groundstrokes for groups of students who have high and low eye and foot coordination. The method used was an experiment with a 2 x 3 factorial design. This research was carried out in the Physical and Health Education Study Program, Faculty of Sports Sciences, State University of Medan with semester V students as the samples. The results of this study concluded that: (1) There was a real difference in the process of grounstroke in tennis, between groups of students who were treated with reciprocal teaching style and groups of students who were treated with training-style teaching. (2) There is a significant difference in the process of grounstroke in tennis, between groups of students who are treated with reciprocal teaching styles and groups of students who are treated with inclusive teaching style. (3) There is a significant difference in the process of grounstroke in tennis, between groups of students who are treated with the teaching style of training exercises and groups of students who are treated with an inclusive teaching style. (4) There is an interaction between the teaching style and the coordination of the eyes, hands and feet to the results of learning the skills of groundstrokes in tennis. (5) There are differences in the learning outcome of groundstrokes skills that use reciprocal teaching style with training teaching style exercises that have high eye, hand and foot coordination. (6) There are differences in the learning outcome of groundstrokes skills that use reciprocal teaching style with inclusive teaching style that has high eye, hand, and foot coordination. (7) There is a difference in the learning outcome of groundstrokes between those who use training teaching style and inclusive teaching style that has high eye, hand and foot coordination. (8) There is no difference in the learning outcomes of groundstrokes skills that use reciprocal teaching style with training teaching style that have low eye, hand and foot coordination. (9) There are differences in the learning outcome of groundstrokes skills that use reciprocal teaching style with inclusive teaching style that have eye, hand and foot coordination. (10) There are differences in the learning outcome of groundstrokes between those who use training teaching style with inclusive teaching style that has low eye, hand and foot coordination. It can be concluded that the training teaching style with the coordination of high eye-hand-foot coordination is overall better for improving the learning outcomes of groundstrokes in tennis, compared to reciprocal teaching styles and inclusive teaching styles.
