Abstract

This research aimed to find out how the influence of social comparison orientation on self acceptance of adolescents. Two hundred and twelve participants, which consisted of 179 female and 33 male aged between 18-23 years old. The method that used is a quantitative method with one predictor linear regression analysis technique. 20 item Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnares (USAQ) were used to measure self-acceptance and 11 item Iowa- Netherlands Social Comparison Measure (INCOM) were used to measure social comparison orientation. The results show that there are significant negative influence between social comparison orientation on the self-acceptance of adolescents. Findings suggest that adolescents who were high in social comparison orientation reported lower levels of self-acceptance than adolescents in low social comparison orientation. ************** Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh orientasi perbandingan sosial terhadap penerimaan diri pada remaja akhir. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 212 remaja akhir yang berusia 18-23 tahun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan teknik analisa regresi linear satu prediktor. Pada variabel orientasi perbandingan sosial menggunakan alat ukur Iowa-Netherlands Social Comparison Measure (INCOM) yang dikembangkan oleh Gibbons & Buunk (1999) dan untuk mengukur variabel penerimaan diri menggunakan Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnare (USAQ) yang dikembangkan oleh Chamberlain & Haaga (2001). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh negatif yang signifikan antara orientasi perbandingan sosial terhadap penerimaan diri. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kecenderungan orientasi perbandingan sosial pada remaja akhir, maka semakin rendah penerimaan diri.
