Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar reading comprehension melalui pendekatan contextual teaching and learning pada peserta didik kelas V SD. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kela V SD Negeri Duri Kepa 07 Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta yang berjumlah 26 peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mac Taggart. Adapun Langkah-langkah penelitian ini meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil belajar reading comprehension Bahasa Inggris kelas V belum maksimal dan masih di bawah KKM. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh data pada siklus Ipresentase peserta didik yang mendapat nilai pemahaman membaca ≥70 sebesar 65,39%. Kemudian terjadi peningkatan, pada siklus II presentase peserta didik yang mendapat nilai pemahaman membaca ≥70 adalah sebesar 84,6%. Berdasarkan data tersebut, target penelitian atau kriteria keberhasilan reading comprehension peserta didik yaitu 80% telah tercapai. Adapun hasil pemantauan tindakan dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan contextual teaching and learning pada siklus I mencapai 87,5% (aktivitas peserta didik). Pada siklus II terjadi peningkatan yakni mencapai 100% (aktivitas peserta didik). Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa target pemantauan tindakan yaitu sebesar 90% telah tercapai. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan pendekatan contextual teaching and learning sebagai salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pemahaman membaca pada peserta didik kelas V SD Negeri Duri Kepa 07, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta. Kata kunci: hasil belajar pemahaman membaca, contextual teaching and learning ABSTRACT This research was conducted to improve learning outcomes of reading comprehension through the use of contextual teaching and learning in fifth grade students of elementary school. This research was conducted by the use of Kemmis and Mac Taggart model. The procedure is a cycle that incudes planning, action, observation, and reflection. In this research the data are collected by test, observation, and documentation. Learning outcomes of reading comprehension in fifth grade are not maximal and below standard of minimum completeness. Based on the result of the research in first cycle the percentage of students scored ≥70 in reading comprehension was 65,39%. Then there was an increase, in second cycle the percentage of students scored ≥70 in reading comprehension was 84,6%. The data shows that the research target on the success criteria in students’ reading comprehension which is 80% was successfully obtained. The result of students’ action monitoring in learning by using contextual teaching and learning in the first cycle was 81,25% (students’ activity). An increase occurred in second cycle of students’ action monitoring by reaching 93,75% (students’ activity). The data shows that the target of students’ action monitoring which is 90% was successfully obtained. Therefore.it can be concluded that learning through the use of con textual teaching and learning approach as one way to improve learning outcomes of reading comprehension in the fifth grades students of Duri Kepa 07 Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
