Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca bacaan Bahasa Inggris (1) Proses kemampuan pemahaman membaca bahasa Inggris melalui Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), (2) Hasil pemahaman membaca Bahasa Inggris melalui Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan (Action Reaserch) yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart adalah model yang berbentuk spiral dengan melalui tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Tempat penelitian adalah di SMP Sunan Giri Gresik kelas VIII Inayah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri atas empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan berupa teknik observasi dan tes, sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik kuantitatif dan teknik kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) secara keseluruhan bahwa proses pembelajaran pemahaman membaca bahasa Inggris siswa SMP Sunan Giri Gresik terlihat meningkat dari proses siklus ke siklus, yaitu pada tahap Pra observasi/pre-test dengan skor sebesar 994, pada siklus I meningkat dengan skor 1533, siklus II meningkat dengan skor 1961, siklus III atau post-test meningkat dengan skor 2610; (2) Ketuntasan belajar yang dimulai dari tes awal sampai dengan siklus III telah menunjukkan peningkatan, pada tes awal 3,23% dan 9,68% pada siklus I, kemudian meningkat menjadi 12,9% hingga akhirnya meningkat menjadi 77,42% pada siklus III.**************** The purpose of this study was to improve reading comprehension in English (1) The process of comprehending English reading through Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), (2) Results of reading comprehension in English through Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). The Method used is action research developed by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The subject of this study is eight grader of SMP Sunan Giri Gresik. The research is done in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The techniques used to collect the data are observation and test, while the data analyzing technique were done by quantitative and qualitative method. The results of this study are: (1) overall that the learning process of English reading comprehension of Sunan Giri Gresik Middle School students looks to increase from cycle to cycle, namely in the Pre-observation / pre-test stage with a score of 994, in the first cycle increasing with a score 1533, cycle II increased with a score of 1961, cycle III or post-test increased with a score of 2610; (2) Mastery learning starting from the initial test up to the third cycle has shown an increase, at the initial test 3.23% and 9.68% in the first cycle, then increased to 12.9% until finally increasing to 77.42% in cycle III.
