Abstract

This study is an action research aimed to increasing the ability of students in writing Indonesian narrative text through a communicative approach with media image series, on the fifth grade of students in SDN 6 Lembuak, Narmada, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This study was conducted because of the students have low ability o writing Indonesian narrative text. That was caused, writing was not emphasized in learning, in other words, writing is regarded as a sideline activity when the teacher can not fill up the learning. Through a communicative approach, students are encouraged to be more active in learning, and with the help of the media image series, the student will be easier to imagine, and find ideas for an essay. The results showed that the application of the communicative approach can increase students' enthusiastic and motivation in learning Indonesian language, and can improve the ability to write Indonesian narrative text.
