Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: a) mengetahui tingkat kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa penderita nomophobia; b) mengetahui motif utama penggunaan gadget pada mahasiswa penderita nomophobia. penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Respoden terdiri atas 101 mahasiswa Pendidikan IPS angkatan 2016-2019 yang menderita nomophobia. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan angket, wawancara, dokumentasi dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Mahasiswa Pendidikan IPS UNJ Angkatan 2016-2019 penderita nomophobia memiliki tingkat kemampuan komunikasi personal yang termasuk kedalam kategori sedang, dimana aspek keterbukaan (openness) dan aspek kesetaraan (equality) termasuk kedalam kategori sedang, sementara aspek empati (empathy), aspek sikap mendukung (supportiveness) dan aspek sikap positif (positiveness) masuk kedalam kategori tinggi. Aspek keterbukaan (openness) kesetaraan (equality) perlu ditingkatkan intensitas pengaplikasiannya. Selain itu, Mahasiswa Pendidikan IPS UNJ Angkatan 2016-2019 penderita nomophobia memiliki motif utama penggunaan gadget sebagai hiburan, pendidikan dan komunikasi dengan rincian 33% memilih motif hiburan, 27% memilih motif pendidikan dan 27% memilih motif komunikasi. Kata Kunci: Nomophobia, Komunikasi Interpersonal, Mahasiswa. *********** This study aims to: a) determine the level of interpersonal communication skills of students with nomophobia; b) find out the main motive for using gadgets in students with nomophobia. This research is a descriptive research. The respondents consisted of 101 Social Studies Education students from the 2016-2019 class who suffered from nomophobia. Data was collected using questionnaires, interviews, documentation and field notes. The results showed that Social Studies Education Students Batch 2016-2019 of UNJ with nomophobia had a level of personal communication ability that was included in the medium category, with the aspects of openness and equality were included in the medium category, while aspects of empathy (empathy), aspects of supportive attitude (supportiveness) and aspects of positive attitude (positiveness) into the high category. The openness aspect and equality aspect needs to be increased in the intensity of its application. In addition, Social Studies Education Students Batch 2016-2019 of UNJ with nomophobia have the main motive of using gadgets as entertainment, education and communication with details of 33% chose entertainment motives, 27% chose educational motives and 27% chose communication motives.
