Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) Mengetahui makna androgini di dalam organisasi OFJ. (2) Mengetahui faktor yang melatarbelakangi anggota mengekspresikan gender lewat gaya berbusana androgini. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Organisasi Lintas Feminist Jakarta untuk mendapatkan gambaran secara jelas mengenai makna androgini dan faktor yang melatarbelakangi anggota organisasi mengekspresikan diri dengan gaya busana androgini. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa : (1) terdapat faktor yang menjadi alasan anggota organisasi memiliki ekspresi jender androgini dan terbagi kedalam tiga konsep yakni mind, self dan society. Pada konsep mind para anggota memaknai androgini sebagai bentuk ekspresi gender yang dapat diungkapkan lewat perilaku, sikap dan gaya busana yang dikenakan. Pemikiran makna ini terjadi karena adanya proses interaksi yang dilakukan pada ketiga anggota dengan orang-orang yang memiliki ekspresi jender androgini. Pada konsep self tidak semua anggota berani memposisikan diri sebagai androgini disetiap waktu dan kesempatan. Pada konsep society Keluarga dan lingkungan pertemanan memiliki pengaruh penting dalam proses pembentukan ekspresi jender androgini. Sedangkan organisasi berpengaruh dalam pemahaman lebih lanjut mengenai ekspresi jender androgini. Orang-orang terdekat ketiga anggota mampu memahami makna gaya busana androgini yang dijadikan simbol untuk mengungkapkan ekspresi jender ketiga anggota. Tetapi, masyarakat atau orang asing masih belum bisa memahami pemaknaan gaya busana androgini sebagai ekspresi jender ketiga anggota. Namun, pada akhirnya ketiga anggotalah yang menentukan pilihan dalam sosial kemasyarakatannya. (2) Pemaknaan androgini terbagi menjadi dua yakni sifat/perilaku dan orientasi seksual. Pada sifat dan perilaku terdapat sifat/perilaku feminin dan maskulin. Pada orientasi seksual diketahui pemiliki ekspresi jender androgini tidak semua memiliki orientasi homoseksual namun ada pula yang memiliki orientasi heteroseksual. This study aims to: (1) determine the meaning of androgyny in the OFJ organization. (2) Knowing the factors behind members expressing gender through androgynous dress styles. This research was conducted at the Jakarta Cross Feminist Organization to get a clear picture of the meaning of androgyny and the factors behind the organization's members expressing themselves in androgynous fashion. The author uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that: (1) there are factors that cause organizational members to have androgynous gender expressions and are divided into three concepts, namely mind, self and society. In the concept of mind, the members interpret androgyny as a form of gender expression that can be expressed through behavior, attitudes and clothing styles worn. This thought of meaning occurs because of the interaction process carried out by the three members with people who have androgynous gender expressions. In the concept of self, not all members dare to position themselves as androgynous at all times and opportunities. In the concept of society, the family and the circle of friends have an important influence in the process of forming androgynous gender expression. While the organization is influential in further understanding of androgynous gender expression. Those closest to the three members were able to understand the meaning of the androgynous fashion style which was used as a symbol to express the gender expressions of the three members. However, the public or foreigners still cannot understand the meaning of androgynous fashion style as an expression of the gender of the three members. However, in the end, it is the three members who make choices in their social life. (2) The meaning of androgyny is divided into two, namely the nature/behavior and sexual orientation. In the nature and behavior there are feminine and masculine traits/behaviors. In terms of sexual orientation, it is known that not all owners of androgyny gender expressions have a homosexual orientation, but some have a heterosexual orientation.
