Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menarasikan sejarah bioskop di Jakarta sejak tahun 1950 hingga 1986 dan kemunduran bioskop konvensional pada akhir masa Orde Baru. Penelitian ini juga membahas tentang pengaruh bioskop terhadap kehidupan masyarakat di Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis dengan teknik penulisan deskriptif naratif untuk menjelaskan sejarah dan perkembangan bioskop di Jakarta. Sumber yang digunakan berupa sumber pustaka, koran, dan beberapa artikel atau jurnal. Sumber pustaka yang digunakan adalah buku-buku mengenai film dan bioskop, sementara itu sumber koran yang digunakan adalah surat kabar yang memuat berita tentang film dan bioskop. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bioskop di Jakarta sejak kemunculanya mengalami kondisi pasang-surut. Setelah kemerdekaan dan kemunculan Perfini, mulai bermunculan bioskop-bioskop besar. Akibat konflik politik, bioskop mengalami kemunduran kembali di masa pergantian ke Orde Baru. Bioskop kemudian mengalami masa keemasannya lagi di tahun 1970 hingga 1980an. Sayangnya, dengan kemunculan Studio 21, maka bioskop harus bertahan dengan teknologi dan kecanggihan zaman hingga pada akhirnya banyak bioskop konvensional yang mati. This study aims to describe the history of cinema in Jakarta from 1950 to 1986 and the decline of conventional cinema at the end of the New Order era. This study also discusses the influence of cinema on people's lives in Jakarta. This study uses historical methods with descriptive narrative writing techniques to explain the history and development of cinema in Jakarta. The sources used are library sources, newspapers, and several articles or journals. The library sources used are books about films and cinema, while the sources used are newspapers that contain news about films and cinema. The results of this study indicate that cinemas in Jakarta since their appearance have experienced ups and downs. After independence and the emergence of Perfini, bigger cinemas began to appear. As a result of the political conflict, cinema experienced setback during the transition to the New Order. Cinema then experienced its golden age again in the 1970s to 1980s. Unfortunately, with the advent of Studio 21, cinemas had to survive with the technology and sophistication of the times until in the end many conventional cinemas died.
