Abstract

This study aims to measure whether the digital storytelling videos in narrative text for ninth-grade students are relevant with the narrative text features and the elements of digital storytelling. Digital storytelling is a modern form of storytelling which involves technology to make the story more interesting. This research is a descriptive qualitative study that uses the content analysis method. The object of this study is 17 digital storytelling videos from YouTube. This study analyzes the content of 17 digital storytelling videos in the narrative text to measure whether the content of digital storytelling video in the narrative text is appropriate with the narrative text features which are generic structure and language features of narrative text and also the elements of digital storytelling. Thus, the digital storytelling video in the narrative text can be used as an appropriate material for ninth-grade students in their learning process. The result shows that the total of 17 videos of the digital storytelling in the narrative text is in line with the narrative text features. Furthermore, 13 digital storytelling videos can be considered as appropriate digital storytelling, while the 4 are not in line with the elements of digital storytelling. Therefore, the teacher should consider implementing appropriate digital storytelling in the teaching and learning process as it can attract students’ attention and make the students not feel bored. ************ Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur apakah Video Digital Storytelling atau Kisah / Dongeng / Cerita berbasis digital di dalam konteks teks naratif untuk siswa kelas 9 sekolah menengah pertama selaras dengan fitur-fitur teks naratif dan elemen dari digital storytelling. Digital Storytelling adalah bentuk baru dari mendongeng atau storytelling yang memanfaatkan teknologi agar cerita menjadi semakin menarik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskripsi kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik konten analisis. Obyek dari penelitian ini adalah 17 Digital Storytelling Video dalam bentuk teks naratif di YouTube. Penelitian ini menganalisis video digital storytelling dalam bentuk teks naratif untuk memastikan apakah video digital storytelling dalam bentuk teks naratif sesuai dengan struktur teks umum dan kaidah kebahasaan dari teks naratif beserta elemen dari digital storytelling agar video digital storytelling dalam bentuk teks naratif dapat menjadi materi yang tepat untuk pembelajaran siswa kelas 9. Dalam analisis ini ditemukan bahwa total keseluruhan dari 17 video digital storytelling dalam teks naratif selaras dengan struktur teks umum dan kaidah kebahasan. Sementara itu, ada 13 video digital storytelling yang dapat dikatakan sebagai digital storytelling yang tepat karena sesuai dengan elemen yang dikemukakan ahli. Akan tetapi, terdapat 4 digital storytelling yang tidak sesuai dengan elemen dari digital storytelling. Maka dari itu, guru perlu mengimplementasikan digital storytelling yang tepat pada saat proses belajar-mengajar agar siswa tertarik dan tidak bosan selama proses pembelajaran.
