Abstract

The changes situation related to the pandemic and the demands of the 21st century reality has shifted the need for basic skills in education, one of which is digital literacy. This study is intended to identify and describe the relevant components of digital literacy promoted for education by leading organizations and institutions. Furthermore, this research is intended to reveal the components of digital literacy that have been used by teachers and students in the process of English learning at SMPN 2 Pabuaran, Subang, West Java. Using a case design with a qualitative descriptive methodology based on content analysis. Using six pertinent documents as a source of digital literacy components, the data obtained from the teacher's classroom language, expressions and icons in learning materials. Then it was confirmed with student interviews. This data was carried out on 8th grades of SMPN 2 Pabuaran with multistage random sampling technique. As a result, there are only 3 digital literacy components that can be integrated as a media to support student learning. The results of research based on digital literacy are quite low because these skills have not been supported by school facilities. However, actually students' ability to recognize digital literacy is quite high. Perubahan situasi terkait pandemi dan tuntutan realitas abad 21 telah menggeser kebutuhan akan keterampilan dasar dalam pendidikan, salah satunya literasi digital. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan komponen relevan dari literasi digital yang dipromosikan untuk pendidikan oleh organisasi dan institusi terkemuka. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengungkap komponen literasi digital yang telah digunakan oleh guru dan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMPN 2 Pabuaran, Subang, Jawa Barat. Menggunakan desain kasus dengan metodologi deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan analisis isi. Menggunakan enam dokumen terkait sebagai sumber komponen literasi digital, data diperoleh dari bahasa kelas guru, ekspresi dan ikon dalam materi pembelajaran. Kemudian dikonfirmasi dengan wawancara siswa. Data ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Pabuaran dengan teknik multistage random sampling. Hasilnya, hanya ada tiga komponen literasi digital yang dapat diintegrasikan sebagai media penunjang pembelajaran siswa. Hasil penelitian berbasis literasi digital cukup rendah karena keterampilan tersebut belum didukung oleh fasilitas sekolah. Namun, sebenarnya kemampuan siswa dalam mengenal literasi digital cukup tinggi.
