Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai religiusitas pada narapidana wanita sebagai salah satu strategi dalam mengatasi masalah kesehatan mental narapidana selama menjalani masa tahanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semi terstuktur. Subjek dalam penelitian yaitu dua narapidana dengan latar belakang agama berbeda di Rumah Tahanan Negara Kelas I Pondok Bambu DKI Jakarta. Narapidana pertama beragama Islam dan narapidana kedua beragama Kristen Protestan. Data penelitian ini dilengkapi dengan perolehan data dari significant other masing-masing narapidana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan narapidana memiliki kesulitan penyesuaian dan kesulitan selama masa tahanan. Kesulitan ini menyebabkan penurunan pada kesehatan mental narapidana. Religiusitas hadir sebagai bentuk strategi menghadapi sulitnya kehidupan sebagai narapidana. Kedua narapidana merasakan religiusitas mereka bertambah, dan menjadikan religiusitas sebagai strategi dalam menjalani kehidupan di dalam rumah tahanan. This study aims to provide an overview of the religiosity of female prisoners as a strategy in overcoming mental health problems of prisoners during their detention period. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The subjects in this study were two inmates with different religious backgrounds at the Class I State Detention Center Pondok Bambu Jakarta. The first inmate is a muslim and the second inmate is Protestant Christian. This research data is complemented by the acquisition of data from the significant other of each inmate. The results indicate that prisoners have difficulty in adjustments and difficulties during their detention period. This difficulty led to a decline in the mental health of prisoners. Religiosity is present as a form of strategy to face the difficulties of life as a prisoner. The results of this study indicate that both prisoners feel their religiosity increases, and makes religiosity a strategy in living life in prison.
