Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of social comparison to life satisfaction in emerging adulthood Instagram users during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used is a quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique. The participants in this study were 500 emerging adults who actively use Instagram aged 18-25 years. The social comparison variable was measured using the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) developed by Gibbons & Buunk (1999) and the life satisfaction variable was measured using The Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale (RLSS) developed by Margolis, et al. (2018). The result of this study indicates that there is a significant effect of social comparison on life satisfaction in emerging adulthood Instagram users during the COVID-19 pandemic.
