Abstract
This study aims to determine the correlation between loneliness and binge-watching among late adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic. The phenomenon of increasing consumption patterns of streaming video is allegedly related to the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic. Feeling lonely because you are far from your relatives makes binge-watching a way of escaping from that feeling of loneliness. This study uses quantitative research methods with purposive sampling technique. The number of samples in this study amounted to 502 respondents with criteria for late adolescents aged 18-22 years, domiciled in Greater Jakarta, and in the last 6 months watched several episodes of tv series (drama, series) through streaming sites in various media. The instruments used in this study were the Binge-Watching Engagement Symptoms Questionnaire (BWESQ) to measure binge-watching and the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS) to measure loneliness. The correlation test results show that r = 0.206; p = 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is a significant positive relationship between loneliness and binge-watching in late adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic. The direction of the positive relationship indicates that the higher the loneliness, the higher the binge-watching.
