Abstract
Pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner online dengan alat ukur The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Sociocultural Towards Appearance Scale-3 (SATAQ-3), State Self-Esteem Scale (SEES). This study aims to examine the effect of thin ideal internalization and self-esteem on body dissatisfaction among adolescent girls using social media in Greater Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach. Collecting data through an online questionnaire using The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Sociocultural Towards Appearance Scale-3 (SATAQ3), State Self-Esteem Scale (SEES). The research sample was 266 teenage girls using social media and aged 13-18 years. The research hypothesis was tested using multiple regression analysis with the result that there was a significant effect between thin ideal internalization and self-esteem on body dissatisfaction among adolescent girls using social media in Greater Jakarta. An increase of one unit in body dissatisfaction makes thin ideal internalization increase by 0.933 and decrease in self-esteem by 0.759. Thus, the higher the level of thin ideal internalization, the higher the level of body dissatisfaction and vice versa. Meanwhile, the lower the level of self-esteem, the higher the level of body dissatisfaction and vice versa.
