Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan praktik pelarangan buku di Indonesia yang terjadi setelah jatuhnya Orde Baru dengan periode 2002 sampai 2019, yang berkaitan dengan ketersinggungan umat beragama menggunakan metode historis. Menurut Louis Gottschalk metode histori terdapat empat tahap, yaitu: heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, historiografi. Temuan penelitian menunjukan, pelarangan buku di Indonesia dalam kurun waktu 2002-2019 mengalami perkembangan. Pasca jatuhnya Orde Baru pelarangan buku dapat dikatakan selangkah lebih baik. Kemajuan ini ditunjukan dengan dibatalkannya Undang-Undang Nomor 4 Tahun 1963 Tentang Pengamanan Terhadap Barang-Barang Cetakan Yang Isinya Dapat Mengganggu Ketertiban Umum oleh Mahkamah Konstitusi pada 2010, kemajuan lainnya ditunjukan pelarangan buku pasca Orde Baru terjadi karena kesadaran pembaca yang tidak setuju dengan konten buku tersebut, sebelumnya terjadi karena sentimen ideologi tanpa pernah dibaca. This study aims to explain the practice of banning books in Indonesia that occurred after the fall of the New Order from 2002 to 2019, which is related to religious offenses using the historical method. According to Louis Gottschalk, the historical method has four stages, namely: heuristics, verification, interpretation, historiography. The research findings show that the ban on books in Indonesia in the period 2002-2019 has progressed. After the fall of the New Order, the ban on books could be said to be a step better. This progress was shown by the annulment of Law Number 4 of 1963 concerning the Security of Printed Goods whose contents could disturb public order by the Constitutional Court in 2010, another progress was shown that the ban on books after the New Order occurred because of the awareness of readers who did not agree with the contents of the book, previously happened because of ideological sentiment without ever being read.
