Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan abad 21 peserta didik melalui penerapan pendekatan STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) menggunakan project based learning (PjBL) dalam pembelajaran kimia pada materi larutan asam dan basa. Pembelajaran pada abad 21 mendukung berkembangnya keterampilan kolaborasi, kreatif dan inovatif untuk memecahkan masalah yang ada. Oleh karena itu, fokus penelitian ini yaitu mengembangkan keterampilan abad 21 dengan menggunakan project based learning melalui pendekatan STEAM. Penerapan pendekatan STEAM di Indonesia masih belum banyak diterapkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 59 Jakarta pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 3. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, reflektif jurnal, dokumentasi dan kuesioner keterampilan abad 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap tahapan STEAM yang terintegrasi PjBL dapat memunculkan keterampilan abad 21. Penerapan pendekatan STEAM dalam pembelajaran menggunakan PjBL dapat mengembangkan keterampilan abad 21 yaitu berpikir kritis dan memecahkan masalah, kreatif dan inovatif, komunikasi dan kolaborasi, literasi informasi, literasi media, literasi teknologi, fleksibilitas dan adaptabilitas, inisiatif dan pengarahan diri sendiri, interaksi sosial dan lintas budaya, produktivitas dan akuntabilitas, kepemimpinan dan tanggung jawab. This study aims to develop 21st century skills students through the application of the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) using project based learning (PjBL) in chemistry learning on acid and base solution. Twenty first century learning supports collaborative, creative and innovative skills to solve problems. Therefore, the focus of this research is develop 21st century skills using project based learning through STEAM approach. Implementation of STEAM approach in Indonesia is still rare. This research was conducted in 59 Senior High School Jakarta in the second semester of academic year 2016/2017. The subject of the research is students of XI MIPA 3 class. This research is a qualitative research.. The data collection techniques used were interview, observation, journal reflective, documentation, and questionnaire of 21st century skills. The results of the study show that STEAM`s stage that integrated PjBL can bring up the 21st century skills. Implementation of STEAM's approach in learning using PjBL can develop 21st century skills of critical thinking and problem solving, creative and innovative, communication and collaboration, information literacy, media literacy, technological literacy, flexibility and adaptability, initiative and selfdirection, social and cross-cultural interactions, productivity and accountability, leadership and responsibility.
