Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran kepala sekolah sebagai leader dan manager di SMP Negeri 1 Kendari. Sub fokus penelitian ini adalah peran kepala sekolah sebagai leader dan peran kepala sekolah sebagai manager. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini meliputi: kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum, staff tata usaha, dua guru, dan siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kepala sekolah sebagai leader melakukan inovasi diantaranya peluncuran perpusatakaan digital, pengoptimalan fungsi koperasi, dan pengembangan sarana sekolah sebagai penunjang proses belajar (2) Kepala sekolah sebagai manager membuat beberapa perencanaan sesuai 8 standar nasional pendidikan dan melakukan pemberdayaan dengan melaksanakan beberapa program seperti workshop, pelatihan, dan supervise. ************** This study aims to describe the role of the principal as a leader and manager at SMP Negeri 1 Kendari. The sub focus of this research is the role of the principal as a leader and the role of the principal as a manager. This study uses a qualitative approach and descriptive method. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Informants in this study included: the principal, vice principal for curriculum, administrative staff, two teachers, and students. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The principal as a leader innovates including the launch of a digital library, optimizing the function of cooperatives, and developing school facilities to support the learning process (2) The principal as a manager makes several plans according to 8 national education standards and carries out empowerment by implementing several programs such as workshops, training, and supervision.
