Abstract

This study aims to determine an increase on the ability to perform addition with teen numbers as the result using paper clips on students with mild mental retardation grade IV. The study was conducted at SLBN Bekasi Jaya with 4 students as the subjects. This study design is adapted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This study was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, implementation and action, along with reflection. The data analysis was done by analyzing every data obtained from the results of field notes, notes of interviews, documentation and portfolio or students evaluation sheets during the study. Based on the result that were obtained before the cycles started, the score were under 70, which means that it’s still below the minimum completeness criteria. After doing the study at the end of the cycle II, the results showed that four subjects have obtained scores varying from 70 to 90 and has achieved the completeness criteria. The conclusion of this study is that using paper clips can improve the ability to perform addition on students with mild mental retardation grade 4 at SLBN Bekasi Jaya.
