Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the effects of epistemic beliefs, achievement motivation and critical thinking ability toward student’s physics achievement. The research method was a survey to 222 sample at the state high school in Kabupaten Cianjur. The sample was selected by proportional stratified random sampling technique. The path analysis was then used to process the result of the survey. The research thus concluded that: 1) epistemic beliefs, achievement motivation and critical thinking ability have positive direct effect toward student’s physics achievement and 2) epistemic beliefs and achievement motivation have positive direct effect toward student’s critical thinking ability. The study implies that physics teachers and students have to create learning environment, that builds epistemic beliefs and achievement motivation for improving student’s critical thinking ability and physics achievement.
