Abstract

Kesulitan belajar siswa dalam kimia terkait dengan ilmu kimia yang bersifat konseptual. Materi larutan penyangga merupakan salah satu materi yang cukup sulit dipahami siswa sehingga siswa memiliki pemahaman konsep yang rendah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemahaman konsep siswa dan penyebab siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami larutan penyangga. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas XI MIPA 1. Metode dari penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi, tes pemahaman konsep, lembar angket, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara daring pada Febuari sampai April 2021 di SMA Negeri 100 Jakarta. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan persentase siswa kelas XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 100 Jakarta dalam memahami larutan penyangga tergolong sangat rendah yaitu 26,22%. Hal ini dilihat dari 31,08% tidak paham, 14,76% miskonsepsi, 13,02% miskonsepsi (false positive), 10,24% miskonsepsi (false negative), dan 3,82% tidak percaya diri/tebakan beruntung. Siswa memiliki pemahaman yang berbeda-beda pada setiap indikator. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang menyebabkan siswa mengalami kesulitan memahami konsep yaitu faktor internal dimana minat dan motivasi siswa yang kurang dalam mempelajari larutan penyangga dan rendahnya kemampuan konsep prasyarat serta kemampuan matematik siswa. Kemudian faktor eksternal dimana kurangnya komunikasi antara guru dan siswa, lingkungan yang berisik, metode/pendekatan pembelajaran yang tidak bervariasi selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Disimpulkan bahwa pemahaman konsep belum semua terpenuhi secara maksimal oleh seluruh siswa serta kesulitan yang dialami siswa disebabkan oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Students' learning difficulties in chemistry are related to conceptual chemistry. The buffer solution is one of the topic that is quite difficult for students to understand so that students have low conceptual understanding. Therefore, this study aims to examine the understanding of students' concepts and the causes of students experiencing difficulties in understanding buffer solutions. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class XI MIPA 1. The method of this study was a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation sheets, concept understanding tests, questionnaire, and interviews. This research was conducted online from February to April 2021 at SMA Negeri 100 Jakarta. The results showed that the percentage of students in class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 100 Jakarta in understanding the buffer solution was very low, namely 26.22%. This can be seen from 31.08% not understanding, 14.76% misconceptions, 13.08% misconceptions (false positive), 10,24% misconceptions (false negative), and 3.82% are not confident/lucky guesses. Students have different understandings on each indicator. The results also show that the factors that cause students to have difficulty understanding concepts were internal factors where students' lack of interest and motivation in studying buffer solutions and the low ability of prerequisite concepts and students' mathematical abilities. Then external factors where there is a lack of communication between teachers and students, a noisy environment, learning methods/approaches that do not vary during the learning process. It was concluded that the understanding of concepts had not been fully fulfilled by all students and the difficulties experienced by students were caused by internal and external factors.
