Abstract

ABSTRAK Oktaviani Putri Hartanti, Konstruksi Makna Program Sosial Pendidikan Bagi Para Volunteer (Studi Kasus: Program Traveling and Teaching di Yayasan Generasi Emas Nusantara). Skripsi, Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Sosiologi, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2020. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan mengenai konstruksi makna volunteer dalam program sosial pendidikan traveling and teaching. Program traveling and teaching merupakan salah satu bentuk gerakan dalam isu pendidikan yang dilakukan di daerah 3T (Tertinggal, Terluar, Terdepan) di Indonesia. Program traveling and teaching digerakkan oleh Yayasan Generasi Emas Nusantara yang selanjutnya disebut GEN. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna dari keterlibatan volunteer dalam program traveling and teaching. Selanjutnya juga bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dampak dari tindakan yang dilakukan oleh volunteer. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, dokumentasi, studi kepustakaan dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari satu founder Yayasan GEN, dua co-founder yang merupakan ketua dan pembina Yayasan GEN, lima orang volunteer yang telah berkontribusi dalam kegiatan traveling and teaching dan satu triangulator dalam penelitian ini. Lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan di Jakarta pada bulan Desember 2018 hingga April 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep program sosial pendidikan, volunteer dan makna sosial oleh Herbert Blumer. Berdasarkan temuan data yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan volunteer dalam program traveling and teaching menghasilkan makna yang beragam berdasarkan makna subjektif dan pengalaman yang diperoleh. Penulis mengklasifikasikan terdapat tiga bentuk makna yang dihasilkan oleh volunteer yaitu traveling and teaching: kegiatan peduli pendidikan di perbatasan, traveling and teaching: kegiatan sosial dengan konsep baru, traveling and teaching: kegiatan menjalin hubungan dan interaksi sosial. Terdapat perbedaan pemaknaan antara sesama volunteer. Serta terdapat dua klasifikasi dampak yang dihasilkan dari mengikuti program traveling and teaching yakni dampak sosial dan dampak psikologis. Undergraduate Thesis, Jakarta: Sociology Education Department, Faculty of Social Science, Jakarta State University, 2020. This research aimed to describe the construction meaning of voluntary in the traveling and teaching social education program. This program is a form of movement in educational issues carried out in 3T regions (Tertinggal, Terluar, Terdepan) in Indonesia. The traveling and teaching program is driven by the Generasi Emas Nusantara foundation which referred to as GEN. This research also aimed to describe the meaning of volunteers’ involvement in traveling and teaching program. Furthermore, it also aimed to describe the impact of actions taken by the volunteers. This research used a qualitative approach with a study case method. The research data was obtained through observation, documentation, literature study and interview. The research subjects consisted of a founder of GEN foundation, two co-founders who are chairman and trustee of GEN foundation, five volunteers who are contributed in traveling and teaching activity, and a triangulator. Research location was conducted in Jakarta from December of 2018 until April of 2019. This research used the concept of social education program, volunteers, and a social meaning by Herbert Blumer. Based on the findings of the data obtained, it showed that the volunteers’ involvement in the traveling and teaching program produce diverse meanings based on the subjective meaning and the experiences gained. The writer classified that there were three forms of meaning produced by the volunteers, they were traveling and teaching: educational care activity at the borderline, traveling and teaching: social activity with new concepts, traveling and teaching: relationship and social interaction activity. There are different social meaning among the volunteers. There were also two classifications of the resulting impact from participating in traveling and teaching program, they were social and psychological impacts.
