Abstract

This Study uses Kress and Leeuwen Social Semiotic to analyze masculinity traits on female character in “Wolfsbane” webtoon. The data source was obtained from the webtoon “Wolfsbane” panels that have portrayal of masculinity, femininity, and masculine on female character. The researcher uses the theory of Visual Social Semiotic (2006). This semiotic approach aims to understand how images forms meaning through representational, interpersonal, and compositional meaning to the images. This study uses Qualitative method. The data from this study are visual and verbal data in panels from “Wolfsbane” Webtoon that shows every background, color, text, and shape intended to portray masculinity in Quinn’s character. The result of this study shows that the female character has shown Masculine qualities from the female character in this webtoon. The researcher found masculinity traits from the characters using the interpersonal metafunction as the most dominant metafunction for analyzing masculinity traits on female character. **** Penelitian ini menggunakan Semiotika Sosial Kress dan Leeuwen untuk menganalisis ciri-ciri maskulinitas pada karakter perempuan dalam webtoon “Wolfsbane”. Sumber data diperoleh dari panel webtoon “Wolfsbane” yang memiliki penggambaran maskulinitas, feminitas, dan maskulin pada karakter perempuan. Peneliti menggunakan teori Visual Social Semiotic (2006). Pendekatan semiotik ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana gambar membentuk makna melalui makna representasional, interpersonal, dan komposisional pada citra. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah data visual dan verbal dalam panel dari Webtoon “Wolfsbane” yang menampilkan setiap latar, warna, teks, dan bentuk yang dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan maskulinitas dalam karakter Quinn. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa karakter wanita memiliki kualitas maskulin dalam webtoon ini. Ciri-ciri maskulinitas dari karakter di interpersonal sebagai metafungsi yang paling dominan untuk menganalisis ciri-ciri maskulinitas pada karakter perempuan.
