Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu keefektifan penggunaan lagu dalam mengajarkan pengucapan bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah aksi tindak kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua siklus yang masing-masing terdiri atas pengenalan, perencanaan, aksi, observasi, dan refleksi. Setiap siklus terdapat empat pertemuan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Oktober sampai Desember tahun 2012. Kolaborator dalam penelitian ini adalah salah satu guru yang mengajar di SDN Cibubur 05 Pagi. Peserta penelitian adalah 45 murid kelas dua di SDN Cibubur 05 Pagi. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah pre-tes dan pos-tes. Tes tersebut melafalkan kosakata berdasarkan topik di setiap siklus. Pada Siklus 1, nilai rata-rata secara keseluruhan meningkat sebanyak 116 poin dengan peningkatan nilai per siswa sebanyak 21.19 poin. Pada Siklus 2, nilai rata-rata keseluruhan meningkat sebanyak 85.78 poin dengan peningkatan nilai per siswa sebanyak 12.32 poin. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa lagu efektif dalam mengajar pengucapan bahasa Inggris. Penggunaan lagu dalam pembelajaran yang menekankan pada bunyi pelafalan diharapkan dapat membantu pengucapan Bahasa Inggris yang sering diabaikan guru. ***** This research is aimed at finding whether songs can be used to teach pronunciation effectively. The method used in this research is an action research. This research used two cycles; each consists of reconnaissance, planning, action, observation, and reflection. In every cycle, there were four meetings. This research was conducted from October to December 2012. The collaborator in this research was one of the teachers in SDN Cibubur 05 Pagi. The participants understudied were 45 students of second grade elementary of SDN Cibubur 05 Pagi. The instruments were pre-test and post-test. The test was pronouncing vocabulary based on the topic in each cycles. In Cycle 1, the improvement of the average total score is 116 point with 21.19 point of the average improvement for each student. In Cycle 2, the improvement of the average total score is 85.78 point with 12.32 point of the average improvement for each student. The result shows that songs are effective to be used to teach pronunciation. It is hoped that the use of songs in teaching and learning process that was stressing on the sounds production can help in teaching English pronunciation that is often be neglected by teachers.
