Abstract

Penelitian tentang perang dan efek pasca perang yang ditimbulkan telah banyak dilakukan sebelumnya. Namun, kebanyakan penelitian lebih membahas kepada efek perang yang ditimbulkan di bidang sosial, ekonomi, dan politik ketatanegaraan. Lebih dalam lagi, efek pasca perang dalam hal psikologis juga patut untuk dibahas, bagaimana situasi mengerikan di perang masih terjadi dan berulang di mereka yang mengalami taruma. Trauma yang ditimbulkan oleh efek pasca perang atau yang dikenal dengan shell-shock dikemudian hari dapat berdampak besar, menimbulkan hal yang lebih buruk lagi di masyarakat, dalam hal ini efek yang ditimbulkan mengarah pada tindakan kriminalitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Perilaku Kriminal Sebagai Justifikasi Efek Pasca Perang Pada Karakter Thomas Shelby di Peaky Blinders. Metodologi deskriptif-analitis diterapkan untuk menganalisis efek pasca perang yang berkepanjangan dalam diri seseorang, dan bagaimana efek itu kemudian menjadi penyebab munculnya perilaku kriminal di dalam diri Thomas Shelby. Objek utama dari penelitian ini adalah Thomas Shelby, karakter utama dari serial tv Peaky Blinders yang tayang di BBC2 sejak 2013. Semua peristiwa traumatis yang dia alami dalam perang telah menyebabkan dia memiliki perubahan perilaku, yang lebih cenderung berubah menjadi perilaku kriminal, yang kemudian digambarkan dalam seri Peaky Blinders sebagai justifikasinya. Perilaku kriminal Thomas Shelby kemudian digambarkan sebagai upaya untuk mencapai tujuannya, dalam hal ini adalah caranya untuk memperluas bisnisnya dan untuk menanjak posisi sosial keluarga Shelby di masyarakat Inggris pada saat itu. Peaky Blinders mencerminkan perubahan sikap, karakteristik, dan penilaian sosial dalam masyarakat Inggris pada saat itu untuk menyampaikan makna yang dibangun melalui efek pascaperang. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa justifikasi dari perilaku kriminal yang ada pada Thomas Shelby dapat dilihat dari trauma pasca perang yang dialami. Perubahan sikap, karakteristik, dan penilaian sosial masyarakat Inggris pada saat itu direfleksikan oleh Peaky Blinders untuk menyampaikan makna yang terkonstruksi melalui efek pasca perang. **** There has been many previously research on the effects of war and its post-war effects. The majority of studies, however, concentrate on the effects of war on social, economic, and constitutional politics. Furthermore, the post-war psychological effects are also worth to be discussed, as horrendous situations in war continue to occur and are repeated among those who have experienced trauma. The trauma caused by post-war effects, also known as shell-shock, or PTSD, could have a major impact on someone’s life in the future, causing even worse things, in this case, the effects lead to criminal acts. The purpose of this research is to examine criminal behavior in order to justify the post-war effects on Thomas Shelby's character in Peaky Blinders. Descriptive-analytical methodology was used to examine the effects of prolonged postwar effects in a person, and how these effects later became the catalyst for the emergence of criminal behavior in Thomas Shelby. The primary focus of this study is Thomas Shelby, the protagonist of the BBC2 television series Peaky Blinders, which has been airing since 2013. All of the traumatic events he had experienced in the war had caused him to have such a behavioral change, which more likely turned to be criminal behavior, which was later described in the Peaky Blinders series as the justification. Thomas Shelby's criminal behavior was later described as an attempt to achieve his goal, in this case it’s his way to expand his business and to ladder up the Shelby family's social position in British society at the time. Peaky Blinders reflected changes in attitudes, characteristics, and social judgments in British society at the time to convey meaning constructed through post-war effects.
