Abstract

Sikap penulis adalah salah satu aspek penting dalam kutipan, karena menawarkan posisi afektif yang diambil terhadap sumber yang dikutip. Dengan mengetahui posisi penulis yang diambil terhadap sumber yang dikutip, dapat dilihat bagaimana siswa menghadapi sumber dan pembacanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji Sikap Penulis yang terdapat dalam praktik sitasi dalam skripsi yang berfokus pada topik Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa yang mempelajari Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa asing di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Negeri Jakarta yang difokuskan pada bab pendahuluan dan tinjauan pustaka serta mengkaji bagaimana perbedaan Sikap Penulis pada kedua bab tersebut. Sumber data pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 50 skripsi bab pendahuluan dan tinjauan Pustaka. Skripsi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan statistik deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Sikap Penulis yang paling sering muncul dalam skripsi mahasiswa adalah kategori Pengakuan, yang diikuti oleh Jarak, di mana kedua kategori tersebut mengindikasikan perluasan dialogis. Di sisi lain, Persetujuan dan Kontes, yang mengindikasikan dialogis kontra jarang digunakan dalam skripsi mahasiswa.Selain itu, sikap penulis Persetujuan dan Kontes yang digunakan dalam bab pendahuluan berbeda dengan yang ada di bab tinjauan pustaka. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di UNJ yang mempelajari Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing cenderung bersikap netral dalam memposisikan diri mereka terhadap sitasi dan penggunaan Sikap Penulis dalam Kontes dan Persetujuan penulis berbeda di kedua bab. The writer’s stance is one of the important aspects in citation, as it offers the affective position taken toward cited sources. By knowing the writer’s position taken towards the cited sources, it can be seen how students deal with their sources and readers. This study seeks to find out the writer’s stance shown in citation practices of English as Foreign Language (EFL) undergraduate students’ theses in ELT of English Language Education Study Programme in Universitas Negeri Jakarta focused in introduction and literature review chapter and how the stance differs in both chapters. The introduction and literature review chapters in 50 undergraduate theses were collected for the analysis. This study uses qualitative with descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that the most frequent writer’s stance classification that the EFL undergraduate students took toward their cited propositions appear is in acknowledge then follows by distance in which both classifications point to dialogic expansion. In contrast, endorse and contest which indicate dialogic contraction appears to be infrequent in the corpora. In addition, the use of contest and endorse used in introduction chapter differs from those in the literature review chapter. The conclusion is the most frequent stance-taking practice used by the EFL undergraduate students in ELESP UNJ toward their cited proposition appears to be a neutral position as opposed to taking a firm positive or negative position and the use of writer’s stance of contest and endorse differ in both chapters.
