Abstract

Seorang guru harus mempunyai beberapa kompetensi untuk menjadi seorang guru profesional. Kompetensi tersebut adalah kompetensi pedagogik, kompetensi kepribadian, kompetensi profesional, dan kompetensi sosial. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan data empiris dari kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris di SMK Negeri program Bisnis dan Manajemen di Jakarta Selatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket dan wawancara. Angket didistribusikan ke 10 SMK dan diisi oleh 31 orang guru, 10 kepala sekolah, dan 99 siswa, sementara itu wawancara dilakukan untuk memperkuat data yang diperoleh melalui angket yang telah dijawab. Data dari angket disusun dan dihitung dengan menggunakan persentase sederhana, sementara itu data dari wawancara dituliskan dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode deskripsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris di SMK Negeri program Bisnis dan Manajemen di Jakarta Selatan mempunyai kompetensi yang dibutuhkan untuk menjadi guru profesional. ****** A teacher should have some competences in order to be a professional teacher. The competences are pedagogic competence, personality competence, professional competence, and social competence. The purpose of the study was to obtain empirical data of English teachers’ competences at Business and Management Program of SMK Negeri in South Jakarta. The study used survey method. The instruments of the study were questionnaires and interview. The questionnaires were distributed to 10 vocational schools (SMK) and filled in by 31 teachers, 10 principals and 99 students, while the interview was done to confirm the data obtained through the questionnaires that had been answered. The data from questionnaire were tabulated and counted by using simple frequent percentage, while the data from interview were transcribed and then analyzed by using descriptive method. The result of the study found out that English teachers at Business and Management Program of SMK Negeri in South Jakarta have the competences required to be professional teachers.
