Abstract

Nadia Nur Azizah, Gaya Pakaian Eropa pada Elite Pribuimi di Batavia(1900-1942). Skripsi. Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Sejarah, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta 2023. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gaya berpakaian Eropa pada elite pribumi di Batavia (1900-1942). Skripsi ini membahas mengenai gaya pakaian Eropa pada elite pribumi yang didasari pada perubahan gaya hidup dan perubahan sosial budaya yang terjadi di Batavia. Bahasan pokok terpaku pada adanya pendidikan sebagai faktor pembaratan dan kontak sosial dengan orang Eropa yang menimbulkan perubahan pada gaya hidup dan pakaian mereka. Skripsi ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini ialah, perubahan zaman serta adanya pemikiran baru di kalangan elite pribumi membawa pandangan bahwa penggunaan pakaian Eropa pada elite pribumi di Batavia adalah sebuah cara untuk ikut dalam perkembangan zaman. Bentuk penggunaan gaya pakaian Eropa ialah pada laki-laki banyak yang menggunakan setelan Eropa berupa jas, dasi, celana. Sedangkan pada Elite pribumi perempuan mengatur gaya pakaian yang sesuai dengan waktu dan kegunaanya serta menggunakan bahan pakaian yang dikenakan oleh orang Eropa. This thesis aims to find out the European style dressing among the indigenous elite in Batavia (1900-1942). This thesis discusses the European clothing style of the indigenous elite based on lifestyle changes and socio-cultural changes that occurred in Batavia. The main discussion focused on the existence of education as a factor of westernization and social contact with Europeans which caused changes in their lifestyle and clothing. This thesis uses historical research methods which consist of four stages, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The result of this study is that the changing times and the existence of new thoughts among the indigenous elite have led to the view that the use of European clothing by the indigenous elite in Batavia is a way to participate in the times. The form of the use of European clothing styles is that many men use European suits in the form of jackets, ties, pants. Meanwhile, in the indigenous Elite, women arrange clothing styles according to the time and use and use clothing materials worn by Europeans.
